历史沿革[edit]
民国二十年，村址归一都十八图管辖。新中国成立后先隶湘湖乡。1955年先设四个农业社，次年并成湘湖第一农业社，简称湖一社。公社时期，村属长河公社湘湖管理区，名为老虎洞大队；1966年起改属闻堰公社的东风大队，1981年7月恢复老虎洞大队之名，1984年改为老虎洞村。[3]
名胜古迹[edit]
老虎洞山主峰海拔218米，山势起伏，东接湘湖风景区，西揽钱塘江。[1]
山上的莲华古寺原名老虎洞寺，初建于宋，重建于清道光年间，寺院依山势而建。[1]
山腰有一个洞，由两块形状不规则的巨石相切而成，洞口极窄。相传越王勾践卧薪尝胆即在寺后这个洞里，明代刘宗周曾撰联追思此事。[1][4]
村域内有良渚文化至商周时期的遗址，以及战国至明清的墓葬群，为考古发现。[4]

村境过去以出产湘湖莼菜著称。[1]
荣誉[edit]
2021年5月，村被命名为「萧山区2020年度平安村（社区）」。[2]
