桥南沈村位于新塘街道东部，东邻傅楼村，西连霞江村，北接新丰村，南面隔江与绍兴杨汛桥相望。大南线与杭金衢高速公路在村境内交汇穿过。[2][3]

名称[edit]

因位于越隆桥南，村内以沈姓聚居，故称桥南沈。相传沈氏由瓜沥长巷分支迁来此地。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

民国二十年时此地归五都十图。1949年10月设农会；1954年11月，新丰、协丰、同丰与河北王四处各办农业社；1956年5月，四社合为螺山农业社。[4]

1961年3月，改称新塘公社螺山大队；1981年4月，又改为桥南沈大队；1984年6月定名新塘乡桥南沈村。[4]
