社区名称来自境内的太平弄，此弄得名时取的是吉祥的寓意[1]。
历史沿革[edit]
先是1950年称十七村居委会，1962年3月易名太平弄居委会；1968年又回到十七村，1981年再次设为太平弄居委会。2002年4月，太平弄社区成立[2]。
