城厢街道位于浙江省杭州市萧山区中部，是萧山城区的核心地带。北面紧邻北干街道，东面与新塘街道相接，南面是蜀山街道，西侧与滨江区西兴街道为界[2][4]。全街道面积约22平方千米，现辖36个社区，其中27个属城市社区，9个属转制社区[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

这一带在唐代已是县治所在。唐仪凤二年（677年）设永兴县，治所就在这里；天宝元年（742年）改称萧山县，仍以此为治所[3]。北宋太平兴国三年（978年）境内分属崇化与昭明两乡，元至元十六年（1279年）两乡分别改称二十都和二十一都[3]。

清宣统二年（1910年）设城区。1934年，六个镇合并为城厢镇，此后隶属关系又经多次更迭；1958年10月成立城厢人民公社，次年6月才恢复镇制[3]。2001年7月，城厢镇所属的办事处全部撤销，原城西、通惠、江寺办事处的区域组成城厢街道[3]。

2002年3月，新塘、蜀山两个街道的共七个居民区划归城厢街道管辖[3]。

名胜古迹[edit]

辖区内有距今约八千年的跨湖桥遗址，还有湘湖、江寺公园和南江公园[2]。

荣誉[edit]

街道曾两次获民政部命名的「全国和谐社区建设示范街道」称号，另获省级文明街道、省科普示范街道等数十项省级以上荣誉[1]。
