荡王头社区在三墩镇西南部，与南阳坝社区以东相接，南侧挨着杨家桥社区，西侧邻工业园区，北边与大港桥社区相连，总面积0.8平方千米。[1]
地名由来[edit]
早年此地多水田，水面连片，碧波荡漾，于是取名荡王头。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
荡王头行政村的前身，民国时属双桥乡第五保，建国后一度是三墩镇第一村。1954年办起荡王头农业社；1958年，它与阮家角、水桥头、许家塘等社合为三墩公社的荡王头大队；1968年起叫胜利大队，1981年9月恢复荡王头大队的名号。1983年起称荡王头行政村，下有7个自然村。[1]
博雅地名网两处记撤村建居的年份不一：一处为2001年，一处为2002年撤村建社区。[1]
