1996年10月之前，这里属余杭区，之后改归西湖区管辖。[1] 2001年3月17日，金乐社区成立。[2]

辖区内包括紫金公寓、康乐新村、明月公寓与文新街道宿舍楼，共有住宅2329户，总人口7800人。[1]
