地名与沿革[edit]
据百度百科，明初仇氏自宁波迁居至此，因桐树茂盛而得名。1984年确立现行建制。[4]
建国初属杭县龙坞乡。1961年定为龙坞公社的外桐坞大队，1984年起为外桐坞行政村。[1]
艺术文创与旅游[edit]
2009年，村确定以艺术文创为方向的发展思路，并以「风情小镇」为工作重心。博雅地名网载该村为国家3A级新农村景区。[2][3]
村依托中国美术学院，已有三处艺术公社和若干艺术家工作室，文创园区内有国画、雕塑、陶艺等门类。[4]

村内现存朱德纪念室、元帅井等历史人文景观。[4]
