地名的来历[edit]
此处原为江边沙地。19世纪中叶，江潮携来的泥沙在岸外堆成洲渚，乡民围垦后最初称作樟树沙；洲头继续向江心延伸，形如刀状，于是改称大刀沙，新中国成立后定名珊瑚沙。[1]
行政变迁[edit]
1958年此地办起农场，1960年农场名称得以恢复。1969年并入西湖公社，成为社内以水稻为主要作物的大队。1984年改称西湖乡下辖的珊瑚沙村。[1][3]
2002年撤村设居，组建珊瑚沙社区，当年归灵隐街道代管。2007年，转塘镇与龙坞镇合为转塘街道，社区由此改隶转塘街道。[3]
社区建设[edit]
社区先后获「浙江省老龄工作规范化社区」等称号，另有「杭州市卫生社区」与「杭州市科普文明示范社区」的荣誉。[2]
基层治理事务涵盖党建、综治、民政在内的二十多项，辖区内建有政府举办的社区卫生服务站，为居民提供基础医疗服务。[2]
