计家社区位于杭城北郊，宣杭铁路穿境而过，东边紧邻杭州钢铁集团公司，面积约0.4平方千米。[1]

建国初期这里为杭县独城乡的计家村行政村。1955年成立独城乡计家村初级农业社，此后并入高级农业社。1961年单独设为大队，1985年改称计家村委会，2009年6月撤村建社区。[1]
