方家埭社区位于莫干山路西侧，因原方家埭村而得名，村名沿用至今。2004年12月，方家埭行政村撤销，社区随之设立。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

建国初属杭县花园乡，为方家埭村。1956年改为祥符乡的农业社，1958年并入三墩公社，成为生产队。1961年归祥符公社，称大队；1966年一度改名胜利大队，1981年恢复原名，1984年又改名为方家埭村。[1]

2004年12月，方家埭行政村撤销，改设方家埭社区。2015年4月，方家北路以北的区域划出另设申慧社区，学院北路以东的区域划给申花社区。2017年3月，万家社区的一部分并入本社区。[1]

社区与祥符桥、花园岗、申悦、申慧、孔家埭、秀水、北星、映月、勤丰、星桥、新文、吉如、庆隆等社区相邻。[1]
