八丈井社区位于上塘路边，辖区面积0.6平方公里。[1]社区名取自境内的古迹八丈井，相传此地旧有八口深达一丈以上的水井。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

建国初期此地属潮王乡，称潮王三村；1956年归东新乡胜利农业社。[1]1958年转入笕桥公社潮王管理区的胜利生产队，1981年10月改称八丈井大队，1985年1月设八丈井村委会。[1]1999年11月，村级建制撤销，改设居民区；2002年4月撤销居民区，设社区居委会。[1]

八丈井工业区及国美电器等企业在社区内经营，社区一带是繁华的上塘路段。[1]
