善贤社区位于上塘河畔，辖区面积0.7平方公里。[1]社区原名「隽堰」，1940年当地医生陈子宏提议改为「善贤」，以劝村民向善、贤德。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

建国初期这里属皋亭乡，称善贤行政村；1956年并入瓜山乡的善贤农业合作社。[1]1958年划入浙麻公社，成为善贤生产队，此后归四维公社瓜山管理区。[1]1961年改为上塘公社的善贤大队，1966年称立新大队，1981年10月改为善贤大队，1985年1月设善贤村委会。[1]2001年1月撤销善贤行政村，设居民区；2002年4月撤销居民区，建立善贤社区居委会。[1]

民国年间，此地地痞横行，过往货船屡遭敲诈，村风被认为不佳。[1]

社区东至皋亭坝，南面濒临上塘河，西至沈塘湾，北接蔡马。[1]
