小河社区位于小河街道，地处古运河畔，社区名取自社区东侧的小河。[1]

社区北侧临古运路，西侧以莫干山路为界，南面连接余杭塘河，东边是西塘河，面积0.53平方千米。[1]

社区2001年2月由小河居民区改设而成。[1]

社区依托小河直街历史街区打造了「12319」红色样板街，与街道合办「小河人文讲堂」，该讲堂列入杭州市运河学习长廊体验点之一。[2]

社区创办了全省第一家社区广播站「小河之声」，开创了与居民互动的新方式。[2]

2023年，社区获评杭州市「争星晋位」村社。[3]
