社区于2001年2月设立，前身为紫荆街居民区。[1]

文化[edit]

社区2007年获「浙江省绿色社区」称号，2011年获「全国综合防灾减灾示范社区」称号，2012年获「全国科普示范社区」称号。[2]

2011年与2012年，社区连续两年在杭州市最有创意社区邻居节中获得荣誉。[2]

社区建立了拱墅区首个楼道关工小组，并设立了小河街道首个社区科普体验馆。[2]

社区以墨香书画社为龙头，组织了夕阳红舞蹈队、和谐乒乓球队、绿色健身队、金秋之声合唱团等八支团队。[2]
