米市巷街道位于浙江省杭州市拱墅区最南端，毗邻武林商圈，京杭大运河穿境而过。街道办事处设立于1954年，辖区内的社区多由原居民区于2000年至2001年间组建。[1][2][6]

辖区所在的古地名米市巷，据《西湖游览志》卷二十二，是宋时旧名；南宋时此处米商云集。[5][7]

历史沿革[edit]

1954年8月，设立米市巷街道。[2] 1968年9月，这一机构改组为革命委员会，至1980年10月复又设为街道。[2]

各社区大多由原有居民区于2000年至2001年间组建，社区名称多沿用辖区内的古地名或旧居民区名。[6][7]

博雅地名网记，街道获得「全国和谐社区建设示范街道」「全国街道社区服务示范单位」「省文明街道」「省文化强镇（街道）」等称号。[1] 2018年，街道在全区独树一帜，成为唯一建成全国健康智慧养老示范点的街道，全省评分也居首位。[4]

地理环境[edit]

街道东面与大关、朝晖两街道相连，南面接环城北路并与天水街道毗邻，西面与西湖区西溪街道接壤，北面与湖墅街道相接。[2]

京杭大运河穿境而过，古新河也在辖区之内。[1][4]

辖区面积的数字各家不一：博雅地名网与百度百科记为3.59平方千米，维基百科记为3.75平方千米，三者均未注明统计年份。[1][2][3]

百度百科记，2011年末街道总人口为41762人。[2] 博雅地名网记常住人口为4.2万余人，维基百科记总人口为47474人，两者均未注明年份。[1][3]

文化[edit]

2010年起，街道面向辖区居民免费举办「米市文化大课堂」，每年分春季、暑期和秋季三季开设课程，课程面向老中小各年龄段。[4]

街道辖区内还有高氏照相机博物馆，2018年正式成为中国博物馆协会会员。[4]
