八堡社区位于九堡街道东南部，2005年10月由村撤建为社区，九乔路穿过社区。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
「八堡」之称可上溯至民国，当时此处设有「堡长」一职。解放后，这里归和丰乡管辖，分为美丽、丁家两个村级单位；到1956年，二者并为一个农业合作社。[2]
1958年，此处成为九堡人民公社辖下的一个大队。1961年分成美丽、新丰、八堡三个大队，1965年下半年又合为向东大队；1971年下半年重新分出，正式称八堡大队。1983年改为八堡村，2005年村庄撤销，改建为八堡社区。[2]
位置与范围[edit]
社区位于下沙路以北、九沙路以南，东靠八堡路，西靠东湖路，全社区面积约0.5平方千米。[1]
社区地处九乔路以北、九沙路以南，九福路以东、九胜路以西，离杭州客运中心与地铁站都在400米左右。[1]
居民与组织[edit]
社区分为12个居民小组，有871户，常住人口3850余人，此外另有外来常住人口1.5万余人。以上数字，博雅地名网未注统计年份。[1]
社区党委的前身是党总支，2008年10月改设为党委。党委下设13个支部，党员142人；两委班子成员中有7人交叉兼职。[1]
