彭埠街道位于浙江省杭州市上城区中部偏西南，东南临钱塘江，辖区面积14.76平方千米，下辖21个社区。[1]街道濒临钱塘江北岸，京杭大运河穿境而过，铁路杭州东站位于境内。[3][4]

地名的来由，一说是宋代彭姓先民在古海塘边设船埠，称彭家埠。明代此处渐成农产品集散市，名为彭家埠市。2014年撤镇设街道，2021年3月起隶属新的上城区。[2][1]

历史沿革[edit]

南宋时此地属临江乡，民国时归杭州市第六管理区。1949年杭州解放后，街道一带先后设七堡、五堰、六甲、新塘、彭埠等乡，归艮山区管辖。1961年，新塘、六甲、七堡、兴隆四个管理区组成彭埠公社，1966年改称东风公社，1979年复名彭埠公社。[4][5]

1950年6月设彭埠乡，属艮山区；1984年8月重新设乡。百度百科另载1994年9月乡改为镇，博雅地名网则作1986年6月撤乡建镇，两说不同，本条目两存其说。2014年12月，撤镇设街道，即今彭埠街道。[1][2][4][5]

2021年3月，因杭州市行政区划调整，街道划入上城区。[1][5]2024年，街道历时二十四年的全域城市化告一段落，六堡社区和皋塘区块的回迁安置全部完成。[6][7]

地理环境[edit]

街道东南临钱塘江，京杭大运河经境内，铁路杭州东站位于境内。博雅地名网载，境西的土备塘（内海塘）与境东的外海塘（沪杭公路）是护卫杭城的屏障，为历代劳动人民捍海防潮所筑。[3][4]

名胜古迹[edit]

博雅地名网称，境内的御道口是清代乾隆皇帝南巡时所经的通道，可供五匹马并列通行。[4]

荣誉[edit]

2014年6月，环境保护部门命名街道为2012至2013年度「国家级生态乡镇」。2019年6月，街道入选2018年度「浙江省民间文化艺术之乡」名单（民间游戏）。[2]
