姚园寺巷社区位于杭城南部，辖区面积0.31平方千米，社区因姚园寺巷得名。[1][3]

民国《杭州府志》记此寺原名崇宁万寿教寺，宋初为姚氏花园，南宋绍兴年间僧人慈昌在此购园结庵，乾道初年获赐寺额，巷因寺得名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1953年，此地设城站路、姚园寺巷、江城路3个居民区；2000年，3个居民区合并组建社区。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2013年1月，社区被命名为「杭州市第七批绿色社区」。[1] 社区先后获得40余项荣誉，其中包括「杭州市最美社区」「杭州市科普文明示范社区」。[2]
